Sailwell family - Parkend (General)
Looking for the Sailwell family. William Sailwell married Sarah James at Newland on 19 May 1824. No parents names given for either. According to a family diary my great grandmother Ann Sailwell was born 25 July 1826 and married Thomas Roberts 22 May 1848. Sarah Salewell was buried Parkend 18 May 1829 age 40. Could sailwell perhaps be a corruption of something else. I think I may need someone with a broad Forest accent to pronounce this name!
Thanks
Carole Jones

I have found William Sailwell (alias Sully)! He was hanged in September 1829 for the murder of his wife Sarah in May 1829. Apparently he was a founding left at Soylwell Farm so I doubt if I will go further with him. However, family legend has it that he was the strongest man in the West Country and used to wrestle all comers, so that will be my next search.
Thanks to Patsy McMillan her friend in New Zealand who have transcribed the Gloucester inquests between 1722 and 1838 on her web site www.genebug.net if anyone else is interested in chasing their criminal ancesters.
