The Latchen Rooms, Longhope (Urgent)
Good Morning
Please would anyone have any idea as to why The Latchen Rooms in Longhope are called The Latchen Rooms please?
Sophie
The Latchen, Longhope
"Latchen Room, a new hall built for the parish at the bottom of the village on the Monmouth road by William Henry Powell of Hill House in 1906."
"The Latchen" is the name of the old road / area that ran from the old Gloucester/Boxbush/ Ross road(before the A4136 village bypass was built) to the west bound Mitchledean/Monmouth road - taking in Latchen House and the Yew Tree Inn.
