Map of the Forest of Dean (reply)

For an even clearer view of the Forest of Dean, try the new Microsot Local Live beta) version of mapping and aerial views, where closer aerial shots of UK places can be viewed, that is to say much clearer than Google Earth. Try the following : http://local.live.com/ then select Ruardean - opt for Aerial - and close in on the high street using the plus sign to view the church. You can now view the road & place names at the same time as seeing the actual countryside.

Map of the Forest of Dean

Map of the Forest of Dean
http://www.forest-of-dean.net/map.php

With the aid of Google technology we now have a current map of the Forest of
Dean on the Web Site. On this map I have added markers of all the parishes that
the team has so far transcribed records.

I'm sure you will find the map very useful as you can zoom out to see where the
places are in relation to the whole of England and Wales. Then by zooming in you
can really get a close up of the towns and villages and see them all as you
would on a street map.

The following was copied from the Google map information page:

Enjoy a view from the sky.
Want to see what your target location looks like in real life? Check out our
satellite view, which gives you access to satellite and aerial images of your
locations that you can zoom in, zoom out, or pan in any direction. (You won't
experience any long reload times when you drag images in the satellite view,
either.) To access this view, click "Satellite" at the top right corner of the
Google Maps page. You can also choose the hybrid view, which superimposes map
data–including streets, street names, and landmarks–over satellite images.

Enjoy
