Pit deaths 1825 Bream (Inquests)
August: DREADFUL ACCIDENT. As three men were descending a coal pit, called the Independent Pit near Bream, in the Forest of Dean, on Thursday last, the rope by which they were descending unfortunately slipped, and they were precipitated to the bottom of the pit, a depth of more than 100 yards, and which of course caused their instant death. An inquest was held on the bodies before W Joyner Ellis, Esq. Coroner, when a verdict was returned of Accidental Death.
