The Forest of Dean Inquest database is an abstract of minute books that have
been transcribed from the original records which are held at Gloucestershire
Archives.

The records contain names of the deceased people who the Inquests are about.
Also included are the names of the Jury, Witnesses and the Surgeon who were
present at the Inquests.

The project of transcribing the records has only just started and there are
approximately 2,000 Forest of Dean Inquest covering the period. Rather than wait
until all the Inquest have been transcribed before they are available on the Web
site, we have started off with only having a few available and the database will
be progressively updated as they are completed.

A Special thanks to David and Sue Drinkwater who are in the process of
transcribing these records for us all to read.
