herbert about 23 years old was boarding with james and ann jones at 9a lifford street atherton in 1891 the house is still there, but a number 9 only no 9a today.the rows of old miners houses are in remarcabley good condition at the front on the main road stands the miners bath house with a date on it of 1873. over the road is the miners social club, and i think a school next to it.this must have been a very desirable place to live in 1873!

George Jenkins b 1820 is my 2nd cousin 5 x removed, the GGgrandson of my 6 x GGrandfather Guillimus latin for William b abt 1707.
I have traced the family back to the mid 1600's. During a ecent visit to Aberyswith I came across some wills which may take the family back to 1543
The father of William b 1707 is Evan Jenkins.
Evan came to Clearwell with Franicis Wyndham from Cowbridge/Llanblethian, South Glamorgan.
The Jenkins family are linked to both Sir Leoline Jenkins Chancellor to King Charles and Judge David Jenkins of Hensol.
William Jenkins b 1707 married a Elizabeth Pritchard of Mordiford Herefordshire.
Mordiford is very close to Holme Lacy. I am presently researching connections to Holme Lacey and the Scudamore family, I believe Holme Lacy house, currenltly part of the Warner Leisure group hotels was rebuilt using stone from FoD about 1700.
A memorial plaque in Llanblethian church dedicated to the father of Sir Leoline Jenkins William, is also made of stone quarried in the FoD, and carries the initials of the mason, WJ. The plaque was carved about 1730. The base of the pulpit in Llanblethian church also carved about the same date is of forest stone.
I have photographs of the plaque if anyone is interested
The family were stone cutters/masons right through to the mid 1800's
Hope this information helps any one researching the Jenkins family.
Kind Regards
Tony Jenkins

Good Afternoon
As to why George and Caroline were living seperately I can only speculate. I guess George went north for work.
Jenkin (Wyrall) I have not found any link Jenkin was also used as a Chritian name (Kin of John) and could be a member of the Wyrall family.
Kind Regards
Tony Jenkins

thank you for that information tony.i must say you are well informed.i was going by the 1881 census my notes say george and caroline were liveing separately, and caroline was still liveing at clement's end green with her youngest son Albert (Albert was an iron miner) and in the 1901 census she was 75 and liveing alone in the same house.you could well be right and George went to derbyshire for work, maybe better pay. best regards Colin
