Bran Green - what is the correct spelling (General)

I noticed that the spelling for bran green is different than the spelling on your map .Question -what is the correct spelling and why is there no detail for that area on your map?(I am looking at the census for this area and their spelling)

Bran Green in the Pauntley / Newent Area ? sometimes written as Brand Green ( this seems to be the current spelling).

a current address /example:-
Brand Green, Redmarley, Gloucester GL19 3JD


{or Brains Green in the Blakeney Hill area ?}

I've noticed (and posted here) that spelling of placenames can and do change with time. I was surprised to find this even applies to "good/reliable" references like Ordnance Survey Maps that I for one used to think of as almost "gospel". However, particularly for the first editions, no doubt these relied on the literacy skills of the Army engineers performing the Surveys not to mention the local people who's information they were presumably using, and even then they were open to possible transcription errors.
