Fire at Half Timbered House Farm, Highleadon. (General)

Can anyone tell me if they have any information regarding a fire at a Farm in Highleadon (in 1841-1861 census it is named as Half Timbered House)Sometime around 1862.
Information given to me this year by the owner of the Farm says the house was set on fire. The farm has been rebuilt and is now called New House Farm, Highleadon. Plaque on front of new house says 1863.

A John Harvey born 1792 Avening, Gloucester, and his wife Suzanna Phelps born 12th July 1801 Rudford,Gloucester. And their numerous children lived there. Do not know if they rebuilt it or someone else took over the farm? Any information would be really welcome.

Kindest Regards

I would be interested in any information you may have received regarding the fire as I am researching the Harvey family. I would be grateful if you could let me know if you receive any responses to your enquiry.

Hi Susan, wekcome to the forum!

if you haven't done so I suggest you try to contact Jean by sending a message direct into her email inbox (click on her blue username). She hasn't visited the forum at all for a few months so may not see your post for a while if at all.

I've just tried searching the British Newspaper Archive but sadly cannot find any mention of such a fire, either in Herefordshire or Glostershire local newspapers, which surprises me as I'd expect them to report such an event; hopefully it is there and you may like to try again (its a great website anyway, strongly recommended).

Good luck !

Hu Susan and Jeff,

Have received your Email from Forest of Dean Family History Trust, Re Fire at Half Timbered House in Highleadon. The Home of The Harvey family.
I have not been on this site for a while as busy with my Ancestry tree and forgot about the posting re the fire !Sorry!
The reason I believe that the house was ruined by fire was I stayed there 2 years ago on the farm and the owners who own it now, told me that it had burned down. and the new house rebuilt - from memory about 1862/3. A Plaque on the farmhouse stating the year of the build.
If anyone comes accross any information it would be interesting to know if this is correct and if any of the very large family of Harvey's who lived there were injured in any way.
Susan you say your are researching the Harvey tree I have it on Ancestry if you are a member of Ancestry let me know as my tree is private but I could allow you to have a look at it.
Kindest regards to you and Jeff for your interest
Jean E Findlay.
