Hello, I am a new girl and am impressed with your wonderful website and generosity to fellow researchers. Here goes.
1764, baptism of Martha Winter, Oxenhall.
1788, marriage of Martha Winter and John Wadley, Ledbury.
I have been trying to find two baptisms of their children, seen on familysearch.org, in Eastmor, Ledbury, but wonder if the Parish changed.

I was interested in the baptism of :-
1 John Wadley, 12 September,1788, Eastmor.
2 John Wadley, on 12 July,1785,Eastmor, Ledbury.
The Mormon index gives both names "John " and " James ", for the second entry, in their different versions.

Martha and John moved to Hanley castle, where my ancestors, John Wadley and Sarah Simmonds, married in 1811.
Sarah and John, my ancestors, did not survive to the 1841 census and my ancestor, Elizabeth, born 1829, Hanley Castle, was in Upton workhouse, in 1841 census.
Any advice on the whereabouts of the eastmor, Ledbury records, would be gratefully received.
Best regards and thanks for any advice you could give.

Sorry, the year of birth for the second possible John, was 1795, Eastmor, Ledbury.
My computer skills are not great and I got timed out, so rushed the second time.
I am hoping that the second entry was a "James " not a second "John, " as he would have been young, to marry Sarah Simmonds, but not illegal, I don't suppose.
I have never found the baptisms of John or Sarah and had not appreciated how much they moved around.
Many thanks again for any local knowledge on Parish boundaries.

Eastnor is an adjacent parish to Ledbury, but is not included in our database.

My 5th Great Uncle was John Wadley born 19 May 1777 but his wife was Sarah Jenkins.
Father: Thomas Wadley
Mother: Margaret Norbury
Siblings: Thomas, Mary, Hannah, Molly, Edward, Elizabeth, Nancy.
Children: James, William, Thomas.
I am not sure where they lived but probably in the Newent area.
Probably not your John!
Interestingly I live in the parish of Hanley Castle. I haven't found any ancestors here in that period but there is another Wadley family in this area with whom I am in contact. I would like to trace a link if one exists.

Thanks for the reply. From public member trees on Ancestry, there are several trees, including your John and Sarah [nee Jenkins.]According to information from these trees, your John Wadley and Sarah, were still alive in 1851 census of Upton Bishop, where John farmed 22 acres [looks like Higgins farm, but my eyesight is not brilliant.]
On some trees,John, who married Sarah in 1799,26 August, originates from Ledbury and in others, comes from Newent.
Some of the trees go a long way back, as far as Gyles Wadley, born 1589 and Elmer Linnoles.I know that my Wadleys died by the 1841 census.I am not sure about accuracy.
I received a death certificate, today, showing my Sarah, died in Upton workhouse, aged 51, in 1839, widow of John.
I also have one of Martha Wadley, who lived in Hanley village, dying in Upton workhouse, in 1852, aged 89, widow of John.I have wondered if these were parents of my John.
At first I was puzzled, if so, that they let the grandchildren go into the workhouse, but they were frail and old and probably lived in very small rented accomodation. I think that I will probably not know for sure, as the records are not there.
Looking at the photos of Hanley Castle, it looks a very scenic area and when the better weather comes, I intend to look these places up.All the best and thank you again.

Hello Pearlc.
My name is Edward (Ted) Waddley I hope you don't mind asking? but I'm very interested in John & Martha Wadley also John & Sarah Wadley. I want to collect as much information about them as I can. John & Sarah were my Great. Great. Great. Grandparents. It was their son John b1818 who changed the spelling of our name after he married Emma Brooks, so if you can help I'll be most grateful.
Thanks, Ted.

Hi Ted,
wishing you a belated welcome to the website & forum. I hope to be proven wrong, but Pearl may not see your post - altho she appears to still be "active" on the forum, as her name displays as blue, it doesn't appear that she's visited since 2012. You can tell this by clicking on her blue username.
May I suggest you send her a direct message, by clicking the envelope icon next to her username. This lets you send a message direct into her computer email inbox, so more likely that she'll see it quickly.
All that said, she may get an automated email anyway (I hope so) if she had ticked the relevant box when creating her thread, but many forget to do this.

Good luck contacting Pearl.

Thanks for drawing my attention to these posts. Without going into too much detail I have in my tree a tentative reference to Thomas Wadly who married Margaret Norberry at Dymock in 1762. Their son, Edward Wadley, seems to have married Martha Lloyd at Dymock in 1797. A daughter of this marriage, Mary Anne Wadley, may have married James Holford in 1829 at Newent. She appears to have been a widow having been married to John Price ( buried 1827). I think she was my gggrandmother. Any clarification would be greatly appreciated.
