Boughton/Meek/Roberts Family & Sir Edward Elgar (General)

I am seeking assistance regarding the parents of William Roberts born about 1770 who married Margaret Jones.

He is the grandfather of Caroline Alice Roberts born India 1848 who married Sir Edward Elgar1857. See his family tree which is in the public domain :

To explain why I got here. I came across this during email correspondence with a family tree contact who connects via the Boughton & Meek families. We are not related - yet - although I am to his wife, but in an effort to establish a relationship he kindly allowed me access to his tree.

Tracing back from Tom Meek 1899 & Nora Olive Boughton 12 Dec 1898, 4 generations to John Boughton 1749 & Martha Young 1761, they had 4 children including Henry who married Ann Apperley 1796. Ann Apperley had a sister Hester 1784 who you will see from the Elgar Family Tree is the grandmother of Sir Edward Elgar 1857. As you will agree this is a tenuous connection.

I have 4 William Roberts in my Family Tree of an appropriate age :
(1) William Roberts 1768 but he married Hannah Williams & I have a substantiating will.
(2) William Roberts 1769 but he died 1775
(3) William Roberts 1776 (brother of William 1769/1775) and I have no further knowledge of him.
(4) William Roberts 1777 who married Anne Colwell 1795 at Aston Ingham 16 Sep 1815.

If anyone can help regarding the William Roberts who married Margaret Jones I would appreciate it.
