I am interested in discovering the father of Richard Aston who was married to Sarah Dudridge in 1779.I believe him to be the father of my Great, great, great Grandmother Elizabeth (Betty) Aston who married William Frowen in 1799.I am endeavouring to link Richard to Phillp Aston born 1655 so any information would be gratefully received.

Hi Glynne,
may I ask how RECENT your researches go ?, and what part of the Forest you're looking at ?.
Perhaps an odd question but I'm researching my brother-in-law's line which is difficult as he has virtually no records of his immediate ancestors bar his parents's names and a few of their siblings. He's an Aston from Worrall Hill/Lydbrook area. He thinks several of his ancestors were Astons in The Boarts area of Lydbrook ?. I've wondered whether this explains the Astonbridge place names locally ?
I've found there are/were a great many Astons in that and the Coleford area (where he now lives) and SEVERAL Richard Astons so a difficult line indeed !. I hadnt realised tho' that this name goes back quite so far, no doubt explaining why there's a few about. Good luck with it !
