Boilermaker Cowmeadows (General)

It has been suggested to me that the Cowmeadow boilermakers of Drybrook (James b1832 and Joseph b1838) were descended from James Cowmeadow of Ruardean through his son William (1778-1865)and grandson William (1807-1851).
The names and dates fit with Parish Records on this site. My concern in establishing the link is with William (b 1807),who married Hannah Meek in 1831, who on most records is described as a cattle dealer. He appears to be the William Cowmeadow who is later described as a boilermaker.
Does anyone know how a cattledealer from Ruardean may have become a boilermaker in Drybrook?

Many thanks . It is a different family branch. I didn't think someone would change mid-careerfrom being a cattle dealer to a boiler maker.

This is the era of the Great Western Railways. Around this time my x Grandad left rural Gloucestershire and worked for the GWR as a boilermaker working on the building of steam trains. Most of these boilermakers lost their hearing, as the noise was terrible, from banging in the rivets etc. This was explained to us at the GWR Museum in Swindon, Wiltshire.

I might be wrong with my information, but if I am right it discounts the theory you have been given.
I have James Cowmeadow baptised 18 Jun 1833 in my family tree, son of William Cowmeadow & Hannah Meek. He is in my family tree as his wife Mary Ann Brain married a relative of mine upon James's death in 1875. Mary Ann Cowmeadow nee Brain remarried in 1880 to Isaac Parsons 1830 son of John Parsons 1797 & Ann Herbert 1796, Ann Herbert being the daughter of John Herbert 1735 & Nancy Morgan 1745, you can learn more about them on the thread :

I do not know the parents of William Cowmeadow father of James Cowmeadow 1833, but I am fairly sure it is not William Cowmeadow 1807, son of James Cowmeadow & Mary Tingle - (also details of this couple on the forum, use the search facility) as this William Cowmeadow baptised 14 June 1807 was buried 9 Aug 1807. James Cowmeadow & Mary Tingle had another son William baptised 4 Jun 1820. There are details about him and his trouble with the law and transportation to Australia on this web site.
