John Morgan c1851 (General)

by Dowercottage @, Friday, February 24, 2012, 14:33 (4652 days ago)

Please could anyone help with information about John Morgan, born in Lydbrook in 1851? He was a baker in Walford in the 1890's and before that, a policeman. It's the bit before that that I cannot seem to find out much about, especially who his parents were.

Needs a bit of work... for starters (and am not sure whether we are back to previous threads i.e William & Tryphena (nee PARLOR) MORGAN of Lydbrook, who had a Son John 1851) Probably is, because William is a Shopkeeper on the 1891 census, along with his wife Tryphena : and again the address 'The Reddings'

1891

William - 66 - Shopkeeper, born West Dean
Triphena - 65 - ditto

Many thanks for your quick reply; you've just confirmed what I had already found out about John Morgan. My difficulty is that it's been suggested in a book (A History of Walford and Bishopswood) that his parents were grocer William Morgan and Charlotte which I haven't been able to find any evidence of but I wondered if someone else had information that I didn't and that I may have got it wrong.

Please does anyone have any old photographs of John Morgan, a baker in Walford or of the bakery?
