Probert in Lydbrook,English Bicknor.....yet again !! (General)

Evening All,

I'm not new to genealogy but very new to this site.Much of it (all of it!) is excellent stuff but I keep getting lost or rather can't find what I'm looking for.

There are numerous posts about the Probert family from Lydbrook,Englsh Bicknor, especially about that feind William who brought such shame upon the family!
I descend from Sarah Probert ,youngest dau of Thomas Probert and Elizabeth Ambery.

What I'd like to know is :

Is the feind William the brother of my Thomas ?

Someone in a thread made a reference to a large tomb stone for Thomas Probert.Which Thomas ? Their father ?

Also loads of references to a "pencil drawing " which it would seem somebody was going to upload.....except that I can't find it!
Ditto a transcript of the will of Thomas Probert...but where?

And is there a baptism record for youngest son Henry anywhere?

Sorry if this is all old hat for you lot....I'm always too late!

grateful for any answers or help in this direction

Happy Hunting

Peter

The tomb of Thomas Probert is in the church yard at English Bicknor.
I believe that William Probert is the brother of Thomas but this is not set in concrete.
Henry Probert ended up moving to Monmouthshire and set up a farm there.
The will for Thomas Probert is found in the FOD will section.

Hi Dave,
thankyou for you response.

I think maybe the site was busy yesterday .I used the search facility to try and find the "pencil drawing" but had no luck. When I tried today,I arrived at the same posting as yesterday, but this time the picture was showing.

It was great to have the transcript of the will ( I finally found it under Documents not Wills)...I'd been going through my download copy with a magnifying glass but still couldn't read it ..and was surprised by the mention of a son James who I didn't know about.
James is quite easy to find in the censuses and ,handily enough,is listed once with nephew Thos Loveridge and once with sister Eliza White...so that helped to tidy a couple of things up!

The search must go on...
thanks again
Peter

All transcribed Wills can be viewed and downloaded from our Documents and Articles page → sub section Wills
http://www.forest-of-dean.net/joomla/resources/documents-and-articles

All transcribed Wills are in PDF format and if you are viewing a Will on your computer you will find that all PDF viewers have a feature where you can zoom in to make the text larger. If you are printing a PDF document you may need to increase the scaling to make the text larger so it is easier to read.

Hi

Thankyou for your help.
Every site is a little different and takes a while getting used to !
But a very good site indeed!
