Help with a book on Freemining (General)

Hi,

I have come across your site many times in the last few years whilst I have been working on a project about freeminers and freemining in the Forest of Dean. I am a documentary photographer and originate from Chepstow but work from Bristol.

I have been working on documenting the remaining freeminers and some of the history surrounding freemining for a few years now and am really trying to finish up the project to put together a book and I wondered if you might be able to help me.

The book is all about describing the way freemining is now and has been in the past through current photographs and it will be accompanied by text. One of the last remaining points that I am yet to document is that to become a freeminer you must be born within the hundred of St Briavels. As there has been no maternity ward for sometime this means if you wish your son, or indeed daughter nowadasy to become a freeminer they must have a homebirth.

I was hoping to track down someone who planned to have a homebirth for this reason or someone who had recently given birth with this knowledge, and I was hoping you might be able to help.

You have a lot of contributors to your site and a wide community of readers/supporters and I was hoping you might be able to reach out to your followers for this which I hope you will feel is a good cause.

I have worked closely with the remaining freeminers on this project and I hope that the result will be something that will serve as a visual record of freemining as it stands today with reference to its origins and past.

I would be happy to show you some of the work I have currently completed or meet to discuss this further and would really appreciate any help you might be able to give, or suggest.

Thanks,

Mike Lusmore
