Glad to hear your enjoying your visit DollyMay !.
As you can imagine there are many examples of Foresters moving to and from the Welsh valleys either for coal or ironworking. My father's line are coalmining Jones' from Wales. Indeed as an apprentice metal-basher I went to study at Treforest near Pontypridd for three years in the 80s, are you thereabouts?. Has it stopped raining yet ? :-)
In fact it's a perhaps curious coincidence looking back, the "Poly Of Wales" had started as the Treforest Mining School, just as my previous tech college had in my home Forest town Cinderford. I had a good classmate at Poly who was NCB sponsored, goodness knows what line he's in now!.
AND I drank beer at the club my "ancestor" Tom Jones started his career in !

I must visit Ponty one day for old times sake, I'm trying to remember the name of the area up above the rugby ground where I lived, it overlooked old mine workings I think?, probably all landscaped now.

Happy Hunting !
