Searching Hugh Hyman of Gloucestershire born around 1700 (General)
I have an original American ancestor named Hugh Hyman. He was born around 1700 and is said to have come from Gloucestershire and was listed as a weaver. His first child in America was named John, born in 1726. That scanty information has caused me to look at the Hyman clan around Awre parish since most Gloucestershire searches end up there and since Awre was a cloth manufacturing area. My Goal is to connect Hugh Hyman to a specific family and location in England. I cannot find anyone named Hugh Hyman in any of the Gloucestershire records searched so far. Any help will be most appreciated.

Gloucestershire Records are held at
http://www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/archives/107703/Archives-Homepage.
They hold amongst other items: List of marriages compiled from the Bishops Transcripts 1600-1837
Looking at this family on the 'web' Hugh HYMAN's first son John, carried the middle name of DUNSTON, as did his Grandson. This is possibly a family surname, which was a common practice (and still is in some instances).

m p griffiths,
I appreciate the reference and the tip. If I can find a HYMAN / DUNSTON marriage record it may be just what I need. If I find anything I will post here because a lot of people have been trying to find the origin of Hugh HYMAN for a long time.
Thank you,
bILL
