However I have not been able to go back any further than their parents William Vaughan and Mary Ann nee Evans.
I am more than happy to exchange information.

Hi Helen & Dave
I agre with William and Mary's children. However I have Mary Ann married as Marianne to Thomas Morgan.
I also have Charles married to Harriet Wood with 6 children. John married to Ann Bullock with 4 children one of which Eva is my line on my mother's side.
Dave I would like information on Robert Vaughan please. Is this William's father?
I guess this makes us cousins.

Hi Richard,
I agree with Dave, I have a total of 9 children for William and Mary.
William’s parents I believe were James Vaughan and Elizabeth Beal and James parents were Robert Vaughan and Elizabeth Hoskins.
I think Charles was married to Eliza Thorn and had 3 children. Eliza died in 1864 and then Charles remarried to Harriet Wood and had 8 children.
I agree John married to Ann Bullock with 4 children.
I have Mary Ann Vaughan as married to James Rudge.

Hi Richard
Yes we are obviously distantly related but whether you are a 3rd, 4th, or 5th cousin, once or twice removed I would need to know your descendancy from William.
If you would like to see my Family Tree website I will contact you off line and give you the access details.
I will do the same for you Helen if you want, just let me know.

Hi Julia
So your grand parent was either, Alfred, Charles, Rose, Roy, Hanah, Norman or Olive.
Alice was my grand mother. We lived with her for a while when I was born in 1953. After that I spent many holidays with her until she died. We often visited her brothers and sisters. Therefore I must have known your grand parents. And may even have met and played with you.
Tell me more, this is exciting.
This is a great forum, bringing families together.

Hi Julia
If Eva Vaughan was your great grandmother then, I think we share the same 3x great grandparents, the same as Richard Ashby:- William Vaughan born 1796c, wife Mary Ann Evans 1796c.
I think that makes us 4h cousins.

I have quite a few Vaughans from Hewelsfield in my tree. If you could give me a few first names and YOB I will confirm whether they are the same Vaughans.

Hi Richard, welcome to this great forum & website.
For starters, from the free GlosBMD site, is this your mother ?

But cannot find any more obvious leads on this site, as indeed I cannot on the FOD PRs. This is possibly because it's recent history so records are not released for confidentiality reasons, hence as said earlier more names & dates would he a great help please.
Similarly the same record off the FreeBMD site

I see this FoDFH site contains some earlier PRs for the ASHBEEs in the Severnside parishes, such spelling variations are not unusual. http://www.forum.forest-of-dean.net/index.php?mode=page&id=2
That said I've searched all the above three sites using variations of spelling for both surnames without managing to take your line further back from the above marriage. I also haven't seen any links (yet) to the Vaughan family, please clarify this, thanks.
Finally as a last effort at hunting the pin in the haystack, using the current free access to the 1911 Census (most recent available), I've tried searching many variations of both the above names in both the 1911 England AND the 1911 Wales Census, but yet again without spotting any clues at all (I'd hoped maybe Stannard, a more unusual name, might help but that seems to be a north country name for example).
http://search.ancestry.co.uk/cgi-bin/sse.dll?gl=CEN_1910&rank=1&new=1&so=3&...
Ah well, off out to start the less enjoyable chores now !
Look forward to more clues please.
