Does any kind soul have access to the Much Marcle baptism register? I have a problem. The database shows the baptism of Richard Parry on 17 February 1733/4 the son of John and Ann. When I looked at the register many years ago I saw a different name (I'm not going say what I saw because I don't want to suggest something to anyone who might help). Can anybody take a look and confirm/deny that the name given is Richard?

FOD record have a baptism at Much Marcle : Edward - 27 September 1778, parents Edward & Nancy

I have looked at my photo of the register and the entry is quite faint. All I can say is that the chid`s forename ends ....ard, so it could be either Richard or Edward. The only way to resolve this would be to have another look at the original register. If you email me I will send you a copy of the image.

Dear Sara and other interested Parry researchers, this is my first time on this forum. I am in the midst of Much Marcle Parry family at present. A Herefordshire resident who is most probably my distant cousin, through John Parry and Ann Jones, has kindly looked up for me the records that are of interest to you. I hold in my hand right now a very faint copy of the 1734 Much Marcle Parish Records - the Parry in question was Edward Parry. Edward went on to marry Ann Lewis (sometimes known as Nancy). In Bristol, there is a file called the Parry, Hill, Bowyer and Curwen records - if you can't find it, I will send you a link. I am considering asking Bristol if I can buy the relevant Parry document copies so I can access it from Australia, where I am. My interest in the Parry family comes from my greatX4 grandfather who was born in Much Marcle in 1778. The interesting thing is that he was always known to our family as Edward PERRY. However, it appears that he was born Edward PARRY. This is a long story. I am happy to correspond with anyone interested. I have a copy of the wills of both John Parry of Much Marcle and his son Edward Parry, also of Much Marcle. John Parry left his estate, unconditionally, to his daughter Martha. She sold a Much Marcle property in 1794 to Thomas Charles. There was some legal drama about it. This is in the "Swindon" file. Edward Parry left his property to his wife Ann, for her life, and then to his daughter Elizabeth Hill (and her heirs). He briefly mentioned his son Richard in the will - Richard was to be able to have a room and the use of the Lower Garden for life, on certain conditions. It is all in the will (also from Swindon). There may well have been a family estrangement.
