death of Priscilla Beach (General)

by unknown, Friday, November 02, 2012, 11:34 (4399 days ago)

Priscilla Abrahall m. Humphrey Beach 25 Jan 1813 Aston, Herefordshire.
My Gt.grandmother must have been their daughter, Mary Ann Beach b. 1828ish Gloucestershire. ( I do not have a cert for her b.)
Humphrey Beach m. again in 2/Aug/1835 to Elizabeth Williams Whitchurch,Herefordshire.
So I am looking for a death of Priscilla?

Mary Ann BEECH/BEACH's father on her marriage certificate was a Grocer not a Shoemaker, confirmed as change of occupation by BSEDDON . Who were the witnesses at the wedding?

Hi

for what it's worth....

I can conform that Humphrey the Shoemaker 1841 became Humphrey the Grocer in 1851

This appears to be Priscilla baptism

1791 ABRAHALL Priscilla John Martha Aston Ingham

I can find no record of her death or Mary Ann's birth....

Humphrey had remarried by 1841 so maybe Mary Ann was living with other relatives by 1841, but I can find no trace of that either. Presumably, her birth certificate quotes Priscilla as her mother? (What out there's a Humphrey about!)

Thank you Brian I didn't know he went from shoes to grocer.
I'm still stumped as to Mary Ann on the 1841c.
I found two though the dates are out.
Ann Beach 15 b. Gloucestershire with a George Owen50 at Tythings of Newlands.
Mary Beach 10 with a George Jinkins 65 and family at St Briavels, Brecon Eaves. She just came in the age range of leaving home for the 1841c.

The witnesses to Mary Ann's wedding 1857 Monmouth, were her sister Bertha Beach b. 1837 ish. and her brother Hurbert Beach b.1840 ish

This confirms the correct family. What address/occupation is given for Mary Ann BEACH on the marriage certificate? Did Mary meet John Mansel RAWLINGS in London as he was born in Middx.

Hi Bluebell

One of your possibilities is out .....

This is her in 1841
1841 census at Breams Eaves living with Grand Parents
JINKINS, George M 65 1776 Gloucestershire
JINKINS, Elizabeth F 65 1776 Gloucestershire
CULLIS, George M 15 1826 Gloucestershire
BEACH, Mary F 10 1831 Gloucestershire
MORSE, William M 42 1799 Gloucestershire

and this is the rest of her family
1841 census at Broom Green Park End Walk Dean Forest (Next to Thomas' brother William & Silve)
BEACH, Thomas M 40 1801 Gloucestershire
Betty (JENKINS) F 30 1811 Gloucestershire
Hariet* F 5 1836 Gloucestershire
Emma F 3 1838 Gloucestershire
Phillis F 0 (3 MONTHS) 1841 Gloucestershire
JINKINS, Mary F 10 1831 Gloucestershire

The second (Ann Beach 15 b. Gloucestershire with a George Owen50 at Tythings of Newlands) remains a possibility and I've found a tenuous link or two...

1. They are in the right neighbourhood (other Mary in Bream rather than Newlands)
2. This is the grouping in 1841
MORGAN, Sarah F 45 1796 Gloucestershire
MORGAN, Edwid M 14 1827 Gloucestershire
MORGAN, George M 11 1830 Gloucestershire
MORGAN, Robert M 8 1833 Gloucestershire
MORGAN, Tom M 5 1836 Gloucestershire
BEACH, Ann F 15 1826 Gloucestershire
OWEN, George M 50 1791 Gloucestershire

The family father is absent but if you search for baptisms you get, for example

44124 1826 MORGAN Edwin Richard Sarah Newland Shoemaker

So, Richard was a Shoe Maker just like Humphrey at this time, maybe they were colleagues even friends? Make of it what you will, it could well be just a coincidence...

I can't find any family connection between the Morgans & the Beachs

this looks like a exceptional spot.....

I'm on FMP and can't bring up the census for Elizabeth & Mary Ann but I have found

HINDES, Mary F 75 1766 Gloucestershire
BUCH, Edwin M 20 1821 Gloucestershire
JONES, Richard M 20 1821 Gloucestershire

and checked the transscript. It's as m p states

In my tree I have 1819 Edwin Beach son of Elijah Beach & Maria Furber.

Elijah was Humphrey's brother ie Elizabeth and Mary Ann's Uncle

Looks like a good bet to me

Looks as if the 1841 census with Mary HINDER is correct as Edwin was living in the Hundreds of St Briavels 1841 census

On the marriage cert. spinster, no occupation is given, address is just Coleford Newlands.
John Mansel Rawlings was living in 1851c in Coleford with his uncle Thomas Pruce 63 head. John was down as John M. Rolings 19 nephew. Sparrow hill

Hi Brian you quoted 2/11/12. 17.51 "in my tree" doe's this mean we are researching the same family line?
I have Samuel Beach m. Susannah then the children are
Maira1789, Humphrey 1791, Charlotte 1793, Benjamin 1795, Elijah 1796 and Samuel 1801. All b. Newlands, Glouc.
Humphrey was my 3 times Gt Grandfather. Mary Ann was my 2 times Grand mother. Is there any one left out?

Hi mpg, You found an Edwin Beach, son of Humphrey, that means Mary Ann had a sister Elizabeth 1817 and a brother Edwin 1820, and another sister Elizabeth Hartley Beach 1826. is that correct?. Thier mother would have been Priscilla.
Then Humphrey married again to Elizabeth, so Bertha 1837, Milson 1839, Hurbert 1840 and Albert 1842 would have been her children
Then you found 1841c.Mary Ann 13 correct age, with her sister Elizabeth 21. HOW DID YOU FIND THIS? Ive been looking for ages, I have to go to the Library to log into ancestry, was it under Buch and not Beach ?.
I took me all last night to print off all my info then stick it together making a long sheet of paper so I can write on it in pencil.
Thank you very much.
