Hi David.

If you're researching anyone called Sterry and you haven't already found it, you can't do better than register (free) on www.sterryworldwide.com.

I'm a descendant of a Lydney Sterrey (as the spelling became in our case) and registered on that site. Just by way of example, by going onto it just now and searching under the Minsterworth, Ruardean and Longhope trees for your Owen, I immediately got this much, some of which mpg gave you:-

Born Jan 1876, Stenders, East Dean (source: 1881 census)

Baptised 27 Feb 1876 aged 57 days at Drybrook (source: Drybrook parish register)

Married 18 Jul 1896 to Harriett Morgan at Drybrook (source: FreeBMD, and sterryworldwide has some Morgan family details to boot)

Occupation in 1911: coal hewer (source: 1911 census)

Died 1937 and buried at Drybrook (source: Gloucestershire Index of Monumental Inscriptions)

If you're linked to the Longhope or Minsterworth line, we'll be related in some distant way. If you're linked to the Ruardean line, then you're linked to the world's oldest known line of Sterry.
