Seasons Greetings 2012 (General)

Once again another year draws to a close....
.......one in which we have spent many hours remembering those who went before us - their occupations, sacrifices and spirit - and our own Loved ones who have departed this year. And remembering Dave Watkins without whom we would not have this meeting place.
As we reflect on our recent past, may I wish all who use this site whatever this time of year signifies to you, a Merry Christmas and Peaceful New Year.
Gaudete! Christus est natus

Tis indeed the time to be thoughtful about those we have lost, and like many I was quite distressed regarding the passing of Dave Watkins, who I discovered from his researches was distantly related to me.
Christmas is also a time to thank those that have helped or befriended you. I would therefore like to thank you Slowhands for the things I have learnt from you over the years, but in particular your help, together with Graham and others that have kept this great website going.

I would like to wish a Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year to all our Forest family and friends, and a special thank you to Slowhands and the team for all their hard work in keeping this wonderful site going after the sad and sudden death of Dave Watkins. Without this site I would not have found out so much about my ancestors.
Kind regards Esther xx

TO THE OLD YEAR
Old year, farewell!
Much have you given which was ill to bear:
Much have taken which was dear, so dear:
Much have you spoken which was ill to hear;
Echoes of speech first uttered deep in hell.
Pass now like some grey harlot to the tomb!
Yet die in child-birth, and from out of your womb
Leap the young year unsullied! He perchance
Shall bring to man his lost inhheritance.
F.W.Harvey
Wishing you all a very merry Christmas & a happy,
healthy and prosperous new year.

Happy Christmas and all the best in family history searching for 2013 from another person who appreciates this resource.
I am hoping that everyone can relax over Christmas and that the Forest of Dean doesn't fall prey to the flooding which is causing problems in other parts of the UK.
