Age of "infant" on burial record (General)

by janehope @, Tuesday, January 08, 2013, 14:29 (4332 days ago)

Hi

Probably been asked before, but I've seen a number of children's burials listed where the age of the child just says "infant". Can anyone enlighten me as to what age range this might be?

TIA. Jane

The safe answer is under the age of majority /consent. ( http://www.forum.forest-of-dean.net/index.php?id=23597 )

So depending on the year that answer (age) will also vary :-(

In some locations/parishes it might mean under 2, in others under 1.

Not a perfect answer I'm afraid.
