Property in 1910 (General)

by ritpetite @, New Zealand, Tuesday, January 15, 2013, 21:38 (4325 days ago)

Happy New Year all, better late than never.

In a quandary back in the Forest. Want to know where one could find out where one borrowed money, which solicitor/bank was used to buy a cottage in Joys Green back in 1910.

If anyone can add some thoughts please do so.

Thought one of you knowledgeable people would be able to help us, specially you Slowhands.

Thank you

Found out that a Mr Wilce owned the cottage top of Forge Hill and there were tenants in it, prior to 1910.

Anyone know of a Mr Wilce who owned property or the tenants who lived in it.

Cheers

I'm guessing there are 20 to 30 properties on Forge Hill Lydbrook around 1910

There are a few possible Wilce contenders in East Dean who might own property...

trying to narrow this down

Lydbrook Property in 1910

I am trying to be discreet. No not exactly. They lived in the next house down from the cottage I am asking about. Don't know what the cottage was called in 1910. And we were wondering when it was actually named Ashgrove Cottage.

Thanks.

Interesting to notice a cottage called "karibu". This is swaheli for welcome! Good choice, my friend's house in Africa is called it. Didn't think I would see it in good old Forest of Dean.

We are now looking for a Deed of Gift dated 5th Sept 1952 which gifted a house from Oliver James to Beaulah Miles (nee James)

Any idea where to look for that.

Thanks everyone.
