James BISHOP circa 1845 Staffordshire & Lydney (General)

by rwilliams @, Sunday, February 10, 2013, 19:48 (4299 days ago)

Hi,
I am researching James Bishop and family, his wife Margret (Coles/cole) was from USK, Monmouthshire. Where would I find records? There seems to be an overlap in records but I have hit a brick wall. Any information would be gratefully received.
Thanks

James BISHOP/Margret Emma COLES

Assuming Elizabeth wasn't previously married & Boaz IS her maiden name, LDS only gives ONE possible Baptism for her, but seems unlikely given the location, and of course there are many other possible surces that I don't have access to. Is Boaz/Bose a traveller(canal?) name I wonder ?

The BISHOP Family suffered several tragically early deaths

by Jefff @, West London, Middlesex, Monday, February 11, 2013, 23:57 (4298 days ago) @ slowhands

According to 1881 Census Margaret was aged 28 and with James, she has children until 1888 (baptised at Cinderford St Stephen), but is not on 1891 Census with James and rest of family.

John William BISHOP m Elizabeth May JENKINS, 1940

by Jefff @, West London, Middlesex, Tuesday, February 12, 2013, 00:15 (4298 days ago) @ Jefff

Ref earlier posted Marriage of George Henry Bishop & Kate Rosalind Murrell in 1907; I suspect this may be their son ? If so he was born abt 1915, perhaps named in memory of George's close brother John William who had died abt 1900.

The following marriage MAY possibly be their son, altho further proof needed of course.

From GlosBMD:

Marriage Details

Groom Surname Groom Forename Bride Surname Bride Forename District Parish Building Year Register Entry
BISHOP John William POTTER Kathleen May Forest of Dean Mitcheldean St Michael and All Angels 1960 5 46

???

I had wondered if the "next-generation" groom's name indicated whether his POSSIBLE father John WIlliam Bishop, "Aircraft fitter", had died during WW2, but I cannot find him in the CWGC site, altho thats not conclusive of course (the fact there are some John William Bishops' war graves listed, a few are RAF men, show this is NOT a rare name !).
He could equally have been a civilian working at a munitions factory (GAC Brockworth etc).
All supposition of course...
