Hi Carol,
Perhaps these general Herefordshire FH sites may be of some help in your search (apologies if you already have tried them).

The Herefordshire Surnames site does have contact details for a Macklin searcher, it may be outofdate but well worth a try ?. (I stumbled across this site a few years back and it has helped me a lot).

The Herefordshire FHS site may be worth an email altho no obvious Mackin researcher listed.

I'm beginning to find the old newspapers site more & more usefull & informative when tracing family names, have you tried it ?. See this thread for info & advice.

Re House names in general in past Census' etc, I don't think it at all unusual that houses did not have names or numbers particularly in the less-heavily populated rural areas & villages, everyone knew each other by name including the postman of course, and a house would often stay in the same family for generations. I suppose those who were "in business" including Farms would be more likely to have names as the C19th progressed but not necessarily smaller houses.

Good luck !
