Hi I am trying to find some information on the Campbell family in the Gloucester area.
Recently we have received copies of Herbert Campbell's marriage and death certificates from NSW Births, Deaths & Marriages in Australia.
Here is the information on them:
Father's name is either Herbert or Henry Campbell and he was a hotelkeeper.
Mother's name is Sarah Harvey
Was born about 1854 and was from City of Gloucester, England.
Immigrated to Australia in around 1882 firstly to South Australia for about 1 year then moved to New South Wales.
Herbert Campbell married Jane Murphy who is my 2nd great grand Aunt.
I would love any information on Herbert - parents, siblings or descendants

Not sure what research you have already undertaken, however first impression is that some of the "facts" do not match up with census data. Struggling to find a candidate either with name, approx birth year or county .......

Thank you for your assistance. This was a long shot. We don't know if the information on the death and marriage certificates is correct.
I have only checked the Australian records so far for Herbert Campbell.
He was 33 when he married on 8 Dec 1886 and 42 when he died on 12 Sept 1896
I have not been able to find any immigration records either for the time frame of around 1882. His 1896 death certificate claims that he was in Australia for 14 years, 1 in South Australia and 13 in NSW
He named his only son, John Herbert Campbell who was born in Sydney in 1888

Going very lateral, there is a Herbert born Gloucester in the right year- not a CAMPBELL, but son of a Cleric
So far Herbert jun is "missing" after 1861 - he could be away at school, or ?
perhaps he re-invents himself in Australia ???

Sorry, no luck so far. I am still looking at other options. His Death Certificate says he immigrated to South Australia before coming to New South Wales.
