this is spooky timing on your part ! :-)
I hadn't heard of Oldcroft until I "googled" it literally minutes ago while answering another query, just while you were posting this.

So as far as I can understand Oldcroft is between Viney Hill & Pillowell, both of which have Parish Churches as does nearby Parkend.

Unfortunately) this site's PRs give TWO equally possible baptisms for George (taken at face value, both in Ruardean not far away. I cannot say which, if either, is the correct one for your George.

I also see Gill Webb has posted
"George Meek married Eliza Davis 1 Jun 1818 Cwmcarvan, Monmouthshire."
This is out of the Forest area - I'd hoped to find their Marriage Record on this site which may have given parents, but sadly no.

This Marriage is on LDS site but no further clues I can see ?
