William Allen DALE 1878 (General)

by downunder @, Sunday, May 19, 2013, 16:41 (4201 days ago)

Hi

I'm wondering if anyone has any info about William Allen Dale - born 1878 - who married Edith May Preest in 1912. The records for their children's baptisms are on the site here and also lots of useful info about the Preest family where Edith May originated. But I have a feeling William Dale may have been married before. I'm trying to use census records to narrow down the possibilities and it's proving challenging to say the least!

Any little bit of info would be greatly appreciated

Thank you

Hi!

No I haven't seen that family. I've been looking in the Congleton area mostly because the info I had is that he lived around there and was a coal hewer all his life. But I will certainly check it out.

Thank you so much.

Also, may I ask which site you're using to get such detailed census information? I've been using Genesreunited for my census info, but it's nowhere near as thorough as that, the way I'm doing it.

Cheers! (and I hope you don't mind an Aussie being so nosy)

Ancestry has William DALE transcribed as William SALE born South Apriea - on the 1911 census for Lydney, Wales, Monmouthshire, and lodging with two sisters, Harriet (age 84) and Jane (age 81) BETTINGTON - both born Newnham.

Hi!

Yes, I'm sure that's his death. He was certainly dead by 1961 when his youngest daughter remarried.

Thanks for the census info. Great help from this side of the world.

Hi!

That's certainly her from the census. Her dad was Henry Thomas and her mum Mary Ann Elizabeth Aston. And that would be her death too. She lived to a fine old age!

Thanks!

Is this the correct marriage, Edith was born 15 Aug 1897 and in 1912 she would only have been 14/15. Would she have married so young?

Hi Nicky

Yes, that's the right marriage. He's 27 on their marriage certificate and she says she's 18, so he loses 4 years and she gains 3.

Cheers
