Hi there,
when you say you're at a loss to know where to look, I think I'm right in saying you mean you dont know what area/ Parish to look in ?, as I'm sure you know how to search the Parish Records on this site after our ealrier chats.
May I suggest often the best way to start a new search is to deliberately not overdo using the filters etc, that way altho you may get a huge spread of results, many of which may be irrelevant, you may still be able to fairly quickly scan thro them and perhaps detect likely trends or geographical areas, particularly if there is a particular "family name" as can occur. Also you'll see perhaps obvious family names etc but in places you may have not tried searching if using filters. Based on these findings then start filtering down.
That said, in this instance even using the Soundex feature etc (for finding spelling variations etc), searching the whole massive PR database on this site only gives juist one record for your Florence, as provided above. This is probably because Wotton is a little out of the "true" Forest area, across the Severn altho traditionally there were links.
When I'm researching a new area I always like to try the Genuki site to get an insight into the area in olden times, for Wotton there's some interesting content including a mention of the Grammar School.

The Grammar School founded 1384 ! appears to be rather special history-wise as this interesting site shows.

This may help too

For more PRs perhaps the two Gloster Archives FH websites we mentioned last time may be your best bet.
Hope this helps, J.
Thank you for the links

Yes, this helps a great deal. Especially about the geography.
Cheers!

The Cornwall OPC database has a baptism in 1829 at Mawgan (about 5 miles from Helston) for Florence Cooke - parents John and Florence.
Also a marriage in Cury in 1853 between Florence Cooke and Thomas Walter Read Treloar, witnesses John Cooke and Charlotte Cooke. Bride's father's name was John.
Cury is a similar distance from Mawgan but in a different direction from Helston.
I have a few Treloar's in my family tree but not this one though I may be able to find a connection!
Regards
-Colin

In case it's of help here's an excellent free rootsweb site carrying thousands of Helston PRs including several Dales, Treloars etc.
I found it when researching our lifelong neighbours in Cinderford, now sadly departed; Wilf HARRY was born in Helston in 1919 but he settled in the Forest and married a Cinderford girl during WW2. I believe his family moved to the Forest when he was a child to find work in the mines following the decline in Cornish Tin mining.

Genuki really surpasses itself for it's Helston pages, very informative especially wrt Family History researches, presumably emphasising just how many men had to leave Kernow for work when the tin was exhausted.

PS UPDATE, oops!
On revisiting the excellent rootsweb site tonite, first time in 2 years, I've just realised it's presumably the same "OPC" database Colin's kindly mentioned, just saw it's described as Online Parish Clerks hence "OPC"...

That's excellent. Many thanks.
I have a few Cornish connections too. The ones I know a bit about came from the Redruth area.
