Private W. BRICK/BRICE? Blakeney? WW1 (General)
Hi Dink,
I suspect you already know this, but despite a fair number of W.BRICKS (mostly William's) being born in Gloucester city during the late 1800s, searching FreeBMD & GlosBMD gives NO births registered for the Westbury area at all. The nearest likely "possible" is a William Brick born Merthyr Tydfil June 1887 who could conceivably be known within the Blakeney area by 1915 or so. However there are NO further Records for the area long after 1915. Similarly there are NO W.Brick PRs whatsoever within the FoD PRs database at any date.
To again repeat what you probably already know a Pte JW Brice is listed within the Roll Of Honour of the Adelaide Advertiser newspaper. This online edition is dated 22 May 1916, but I think I'm right in thinking this was an ongoing Roll that this paper updated thro the War, Pte Brice's entry isn't dated perhaps suggesting it wasn't recent news ?.
At first I took the title "170th" as a reference to an Army Unit, now I see it's clearly the 170th update to the List !, and "only" halfway thro the War, very sad indeed.
