Evan & Eleanor Symonds, son George, 1682, Newland (General)
I think I may have just found the answer to my own question!
I just found this record showing Evans as a surname for a John and Eleanor with child Eleanor, all residing in Coleford in 1637 which makes it more likely the burial record for George Symonds was mistakenly transcribed as "son of Evan & Eleanor" where perhaps it actually read "son of Evans, Eleanor" ...which brings up the next question: Why was George's surname different from his mother's?
Off to see what else I can find!
