Marriage of Thomas Davis and Judith Sullivan (General)

by Paul Andrews @, Shropshire, England, Friday, July 19, 2013, 20:43 (4139 days ago)

Thomas Davis (dates unknown) and Judith Sullivan 1797-1880 baptized a number of children.
Those that I have are:-
Elizabeth bap 1 Jun 1817 Aston Ingham.
Anne 4 Apr 1819 Aston Ingham.
Maryanne 24 May 1824 Aston Ingham.
Caroline 9 Jul 1829 Aston Ingham.
All are in records on this site.
In 1829 at the Lent Assizes at Gloucester Thomas was found guilty of house breaking and sentence to death, which was commuted to transportation for life.
Judith then lived with Benjamin Paine and had children with him, again baptismal record are on this site, eventually marrying him 2 Mar 1848 Aston Ingham. The marriage record on this site gives Judith's father as Joseph Sullivan.
I have not been able to find a marriage for Thomas Davis and Judith Sullivan and would like to ask if anyone has any details of their marriage.
Many thanks.

I have this family as several of the children married Colwells (my paternal line). I can't guarantee the following as I didn't take it very far, but it would be worth your checking out a son Thomas b.1825 who married Elizabeth Colwell in 1851, and Harriett b.c1832 who married Charles Coldrick in 1851. Mary married Robert Colwell in 1852. Judith died in 1870 bd. Newent. Do let me know if you find these extra children of Judith match the family as I did this search some years ago and there is more evidence available now.

Baptism of Thomas Davis 15 Mar 1835 Aston Ingham

by Paul Andrews @, Shropshire, England, Saturday, July 20, 2013, 18:52 (4138 days ago) @ Paul Andrews

This Thomas Davis was baptized on the same day as Harriet Davis bc1832 and Benjamin Davis/Paine bc1835 at Aston Ingham. I had wrongly assumed he had been born c1835, and now accept that he was born c1825.
Many thanks for your help.

That looks like Thomas Davis, the other entry under the same reference in Newent seems to be too young, as his first child was born in 1817.
The Thomas I am looking for was sentenced on 1 April 1829 and sailed to Tasmania on board the Prince Regent on 17 August 1829.
I will send to Gloucester Archives for a copy of the document.
Many thanks.
