Many thanks also Slowhands.The map & pic are great.
What you say makes sense but now I'm doubly confused because I have evidence of a Mrs Palmer in 1871 selling that Grove Farm to the NE of L'dean up on Flaxley Rd.
I suspect there were more Palmer families in the area than I first thought:
I have 'my' John & Mary (Bellamy)Palmer at Grove Farm;
JP's son John & Ann Palmer (cousins)at Temple Farm;
JP's dau Caroline & Edward Palmer (cousins)at Flaxley Mill;
JP's dau Ann & Sam Bullock at Elton Farm E of Camp Farm.
mpg has sent census records which I've yet to (hopefully) transcribe before putting on the forum -when I figure out how to do so.
1881 shows Flaxley Grove Farm, Flaxley Moores Farm & Flaxley Tibbs Cross bracketed with an annotation 'Amalgamated with Little Dean'. Sadly no Palmers were living there.
1871 shows only Tibbs Cross, & Flaxley Mill has Palmers but no Grove Farm.
1841 shows the same.
I must hasten slowly...
Kath
