Jane family (General)

Hi again everyone

Just wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of a Jane family that might have been living in the Bream area in the 20s/30s? Maybe near Woodside? I can find plenty of Janes in the 19th century, but probably not looking in the right spot for the more recent ones.

Thanks again all.

Hi,
to find more recent BMDs than the PRs show, GlosBMD is always worth trying, gives similar results to FreeBMD but more precise locations ie exact Parish and more recent dates too.

Have a look for "Jane" in "Forest of Dean" here. Only a few, many more Janes, but worth trying. Also carefull internet searching perhaps and the BNA newpaper websites which cover your period.

Thank you as always.

Just taken a run through the Gloster BDM's but not finding anything yet that looks like a likely match. There are Janes in Bristol and Gloucester and such but none really close to home as it were.

Of course it could all be a red herring - my lot seem to delight in doing that sometimes (the Welsh ones anyway!)

I'm off to try the newspapers now and see what presents itself.

Have a nice weekend.

Cheers :)

Excellent suggestion as always Shepway, I'm disappointed I didn't think of alternative spellings. Very instructive too, as my own experiences with GlosBMD has led me to rely on that site for always automatically offering alternative spellings, unlike FreeBMD for example. However following your wise prod it's become clear that it's not always as helpfull as I'd thought - retrying today gives several previously unseen JAINE hits, and even more JAYNE with probably 70 or so in the Forest District alone and many in C20th, plus many more JAYNES of course.
Thanks kind sir !
