Frederick ELLWAY or ELWAY b 1863 Yorkley d 1933 Westbury. (General)
by russ3238 , Leicestershire, England, Sunday, November 10, 2013, 14:55 (4025 days ago)
I am trying to find anything on Frederick ELLWAY or ELWAY. He just seems to have appeared in 1891. Prior to that I am lost. The latter Census 1891 onwards says he was born 1863 in Yorkley.
I cannot find a birth, baptism, marriage or Census details before 1891. I was hoping someone could help me identify his parents birth etc.
Thank you
Frederick ELLWAY or ELWAY/HOLLOWAY/COOPEY

But why not Monmouth office, seems odd ??!!
There are other ALWAY/ALLWAYS in Gloucester/Stroud so maybe different family altogether ?. Above birth perhaps linked with

Frederick ELLWAY or ELWAY b 1863 Yorkley d 1933 Westbury.

Thanks to all who have replied and helped me to sort this one out.
I think I now have it.
Fred was the illegitimate son of Thomas ELLWAY (b 1821 Pillowell, son of John and Mary ELLWAY died 1887)and Sarah BROWN.
Sarah was a widow and was the housekeeper to Thomas who was also widowed. The 1871 Census has them living at Ellwood with Fred having the surname BROWN. He was Thomas' son as shown in the BMD for Gloucestershire and reverted back to his correct name by 1891 when he was married.
Fred went onto have 14 children including Noah whose son William Frederick was killed in action in Holland 1945, 10 days before the end of WW2.
Thanks again
