Albert JONES, 1893-1918, born Wigpool (General)

by dink999, Sunday, January 26, 2014, 13:15 (3949 days ago)

Albert JONES is one of 10 men killed in WW1 who are remembered on a plaque inside Abenhall Church and I am trying to find out more about him

I have most of his family details. He was the son of John JONES and Mary Jane COOKE. His father died in 1900 and Mary remarried a William PIMBLE at Abenhall in 1905.

What I cannot find is where Albert was on the 1911 census. I don't think that he was in Wales for work as he is on a local list of recruits in the Gloucester Journal dated 12 Sept 1914.

I know JONES is not the easiest name to find but if another pair of eyes could have a look for him in 1911 I would be grateful.

Hi

I can find Mary Jane and William Pimble in 1911. Also Mary Jane Jones, widowed, in 1901. Her birthplace is given as Brimfield, Herefordshire in both instances. But all her children, including Albert, are listed as being born in East Dean. So if this is the right Albert, I think this could be him in 1911:

He was Baptised at Hope Mansell, suggesting they perhaps had family ties towards Herefordshire, as per DownUnder's post ?

Hello downunder,

Thanks for the 1911 info, I think I can settle for this Albert Jones being my man, particulary with him being just 17 and that he is with another Forest family (the Emblings) . So he was in Wales despite my thoughts otherwise.
