I am trying to identify a survivor of a german fighter bombing on Great Yarmouth 11 May 1943 where 26 ATS girls were killed. The survivor I am looking for came from the Forest of Dean.

This article mentions someone pulled out alive; a Pte Doreen Chappel, aged 22.

Your post immdiately caught my eye! My maternal grandmother was one of the girls that went out to Great Yarmouth to replace the girls that had been killed:-( Her name was Kathleen Barratt from Ross.

After a brief description of the raid and the rescue efforts…………..
“One survivor of the ATS was named last night as Private Doreen Chappel (22), of High Street, Cinderford, Glos. It was stated at the general hospital in which she is lying that her condition is fair.”
