Hi, I'm on the track of my relative Thomas Horlick born cranham 1806 and died Kingston, Surrey, 1890. I can't find him in any censuses until his death occurs. His wife was Harriet / Harriot Hulbert/ Holbert. She married again to John Preston. Wonder how she managed to do that, thought divorce was too expensive in those days.

Any connections with the Forest of Dean???

Thomas had obviously died, as by the 1841 census, Harriet is living with her father and John Preston, whom she married in 1843 is a Male Servant in the household.

The other thing that is a bit strange about Thomas Horlick on the ancestry site is that it refers to him as the stepson of Frances Lovegrove, but I am confused as I thought she was his mother. Has anyone seen his birth details please.? Maybe the ancestry site is glitchy

Never mind that one, I sorted it out by deleting their names, re-entering them and clicking the family links, so it was my fault

The Will is available for download. It would appear that he died on 27 July 1840 and left his estate to his wife Frances.

A Family Tree tells us that Alexander married Frances Lovegrove. No date or place is given.
