Yes there were steps up from the school playground to a small gate, and just across College Road was Goughs shop. There is now a garage right on the roadside and I think this is where the steps upto the shop were.
Next to this there was a field where horses and donkeys were kept, and on again there were three cottages. All this has now been built on with modern homes.
I'm also trying to find out the name of the person who originally owned this field prior to it being sold to Mr Gough at the shop in the 50's. He then sold it on to a developer who built two semi-detached houses on the land around 1969-70.
I remember only too well the playing fields at the top of the 'Barn'. Cold and wet afternoons spent playing rugby, cold showers, and then having to run back to the school to make sure we caught the school bus home to Drybrook. 'Happy Days'
