Wigpool Iron Mine (General)

Can anyone help on this. I'm trying to find out when the Iron Mine on Wigpool closed.
My great grandfather Thomas Birt 1824-1915 worked there as shown in the 1871 and 1881 censuses where he is described as:- 1871, Engineer and 1881, Iron miner.

There is a website for Wigpool Iron Mine. You might be interested to know that one of the entrances is called Meeks Hole.

Thanks Roger, I've now found the information on the Wigpool web site. For anyone looking in future, Wigpool opened in 1861 and closed in 1918.
