Rogers (General)

by RogersC @, Tuesday, August 12, 2014, 10:18 (3750 days ago)

Hi there

I would like to find out more about My Great Grandfather Joseph John Rogers. He was born in 1888, possibly in Yorkley. I know his mothers name was Mary but am unsure of his fathers name but it may have been Joseph John Williams. Joseph immigrated to New Zealand in 1912 and then served in WW1, I found the information regarding his mother and father in his service records.

I found the below information which states it is from the 1891 census.

1824 ROGERS John 67 Lydney Lane, Yorkley Gen Labourer
1830 ROGERS Sarah Lydney Lane, Yorkley
1863 ROGERS James 28 Stoker stationery Engine
1867 ROGERS Mary 24 Lydney Lane, Yorkley
1889 ROGERS Joseph 2

St James Church, Bream, Parish magazine indicates a Sarah Rogers died in 1894.

Any information would be much appreciated, especially any as to where Mary or Sarah is buried. One thing I do know about Mary is that she was still alive in 1916 and living in Oldcroft.

Thank you

Chris

If you belong to Ancestry

quite a few trees have your

ROGERS family tree - back to William ROGERS year 1585 in Broad Hinton, Wiltshire.

Duncan and Mandy's Wiltshire website covers many churches etc in Wiltshire, including Broad Hinton (just under 4 miles from Wroughton)
