Without giving us any name(s) dates, place of birth/census etc - we can't help - so any information you have please let us know.
Barnwood St Lawrence and Wotton Under Edge are not covered by the Forest of Dean area records - Any connections with the Forest?

Is a useful site, as most births give the mother's maiden name.

If great grandmother was in Wootton and Barnwood then the Wooton is most likely to be Wotton, Gloucester rather than Wootton under Edge. http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/GLS/WottonStMary/

The Genuki webpage that I quoted tells us that Wotton, Gloucester is in the parish of Gloucester St Mary de Lode and we have records for this parish on this site.
If you look at today's maps you will see that Wotton adjoins Barnwood.

Ji, I amkind of ok with the Walton line, I have some information. I know my grandfather was Albert Edward Walton and he was born in 1887, William was his brother. I don't know what has happened to William. My grandfather Albert died in 1957, when my dad was 8. He had a hard life, information of hat we got from the coroners report from Carmarthenshire. If you have any further info then I would be extremely grateful. Julia, his mother was in an institute for 30 years, after he was born.

Just watched the programme about women being locked for decades after suffering postnatal depression and the terrible treatments they were given to try and make them well. May be Julia suffered as from this. Will have a look for William.
As you probably know - on the 1911 Census, he is living at 69 Foleshill Road, Coventry and a Carman for the Railways L & N.W.
age 27 and single.
Ancestry do have railway records

Looking at the CLDS
Julia had a son George Marshall EDEN christened 23 October 1880 at Shipston on Stour, and whose death is registered O/N/D Qtr 1880 - so another thing on her mind!

So that would be before she had the other boys (my grandfather) and before she married my great grandfather James Walton?

Knowing how my x Great Aunt named her illegitimate son with the father's name (and have seen this before!)
Do wonder whether this could be the father
George MARSHALL age 22 - an Ag. Lab and the son of the owner running the Kings Head at Shipston on Stour in 1881 - (page 28 of 39 and Julia is on page 33)

Ooh, could well be. But he obviously didn't want to know her as she married
James in 1881 then.

Barnwood House was opened in 1860 founded by The Gloucester Asylum Trust as a private mental hospital it was closed in 1968. They do hold records of this hospital in The Gloucestershire Archives. Hope you find what your looking for Regards Tichfen.

I believe it comes under the 100 year rule. I had a great aunt that was also at Barnwood House she died in 1925 and I don't think I can access her medical records yet. If you go into your search engine and type Barnwood House Mental Hospital Gloucestershire it brings up good information on the hospital with some pictures and how to get any info. Gloucestershire Archives also have on the web information on Lunatic Asylum and Mental Health Hospital Records so it might be worth taken a look at that as well. All the best
Regards Tichfen.

Hi, thank you so much for that information. I think my dad and I are going to take a trip to the archives in Gloucester to see what we can find out. I have heard that about the 100 years, but I have also heard that if you get special permission from
Coroners office then sometimes they can be released. Hope this might help you
