Robert VAUGHAN b abt 1749 Woolaston/Tidenham (General)

Hello,

has anyone had any luck tracing this Robert Vaughan's parents? He was born around 1749 (possibly in Woolaston - at the very least he was living there at the time of his marriage) and married Elizabeth Hocking (various spellings) in Tidenham in 1769. They had at least 6 children in Tidenham.

All the best,

BP.

The Ashby family tree on Ancestry would appear to be your family. Robert's parents are given as James Vaughan married (1749 Gloucester Cathedral)to Mary Walter. Hope that this is of help.

Hello Peter,

thanks for the information. I've started putting a list together of possible Robert Vaughans, and I think that the Robert they are referring to on Ancestry is actually Robert Walter Vaughan bap 28 Jan 1750 in Longhope (like you said: parents James Vaughan and Mary Walter). This makes sense because of his middle name - and because Robert Walter Vaughan married Catharina Byrn in Bristol in 1775.

Robert and Elizabeth married in 1769 and had children in Tidenham in 1770 (James), 1773 (Anne), 1778 (Elizabeth), 1784 (Thomas) and 1792 (Robert).

If anyone else has any ideas, or would like to help go through the various 'Roberts' who lived in Glos. at the time - let me know.

BP.
