Arabella Lediard (General)

by lizlochh62, Thursday, October 16, 2014, 08:58 (3685 days ago)

Hi can anyone tell me please if there is any link between Arabella Roselia Lediard born in 1824 and Clara Lediard, who was the mother of Gustav Holst and who went to Cheltenham Ladies College. They seem to both have been born in Cranham Glos. Later Arabella married Joseph A. Horlick and their first child was born in Ross in 1871. Clara's dad is Samuel Lediard, a solicitor, but I don't know if Arabella had the same father or a brother maybe? Also does anyone know how I can research the schools in Cheltenham to see if my relatives attended? thank you

A link confirming the Census data:-

http://www.geni.com/people/Clara-Lediard/6000000012533057641

and a link to a book about Joseph HORLICK et al. Only 10 pages of it but the whole is still available on the net.

If it doesn't work search Arabella Roselia LEDIARD and it should be first on the list.

Reading the will of Thomas Lediard 1801 has produced some other speculations.
His wife is Ann
His children are Sussanah,Mary, Samuel B.,William and Thomas.
Samuel Barnfield died in 1809 or 1819 (it is not clear if a 0 or 1) and his mother Ann is deceased. The particulars of the 1801 will have not been met so a additional addendum has been added to the effect that Mary Barton nee Lediard wife of Edward Barton executor is now the principal executor of the 1801 will.

A question is who is the Thomas Lediard marrying as a widow.
