James Williams of English Bicknor in WW1 (General)

I am a member of the Slimbridge Local History Society and we have researched all the soldiers of our village who fell in World War 1. Only one of those soldiers has defeated our attempts to identify him and that is James Williams. He died aged 21 in 1920 and his father is given as James Williams of Gossington, a settlement which is part of Slimbridge. There are no other records that we can find of either James relating to Slimbridge.

The only possible link we have found is that a James Williams of English Bicknor joined the 1st Gloucestershire Regiment in 1914. This is taken from an entry in the Gloucester Journal of 28 November 1914. It would be very helpful to know if anyone can help us with knowledge of James Williams of English Bicknor even if it is only to discount him from our search.

We can provide copies of the Journal entry and James' death certificate if that is helpful.

Thanks,

Den
