hello all, this is my first time, so please bear with me . I have hit a brick wall with the waite family of east dean,down (h)atherley, forest of dean, cinderford glouchester. From youngest to oldest I have Frederick John Waite b 1906 Glamorgan, d 1975 Bairnsdale Aust, married Florence Mary Rich. His father Frederick Waite b 1881 cinderford d 1860 Bairnsdale Aust, married Lillian Powell. His father John Waite b 1852? east dean d ?, married Sylvia Brain. (he is not listed on the 1861 census, but I read your forum that gave me that date, on the 1871 census he is born 1862, the 1881 census b 1857 and the 1891 census as b 1852, hence my confusion). His father William waite b 1834 Down Hatherley, d? married Eliza Evans. His father John Waite b 1806 East Dean, married Charlotte (mountjoy?). Then I get stuck going back further. Is there a good site to go to. I am with Ancestry and my heritage, but am getting stuck. Any suggestions and help would be very grateful indeed. The John Waite b 1852-1862 confuses me. On John's marriage in 1875 - he says his father was William Waite - looking at the original one witness looks like Simeon or Susan

(whether this is a coincidence or not - but needs a bit more research )
