Hello Brian - I wonder if you are looking for the Meek - Ennis, Mormon connection?

Hello fredb,
I'm looking for a photo showing the chapel on the main road and 3 cottages which are no longer there.
I'm told in the village that the cottages were demolished about 25 years ago. One of the cottages was occupied by a James Wellyn Smith back in the 1900 to 1930 period.
Regards Brian

A bit later than the Meek and Ennis family that went to the US, as you can see in this map the Chapel had a path straight to the road and there was a line if buildings along the road and up the lane to Ryeford Barn, the car park now. Ross library might have photos, is there a museum? fred

My husbands family come from that area. His great grandparents, grandparents and parents all lived in those cottages. There were 5 cottages, The Manse, School house and of course the Baptist Chapel. When my husband, Nigel Smith, was small he lived number 5, great nan Charlotte Phipps who died in 1965 lived in number 1 and Nan & Grandad (Maysell and Sid Smith ) lived in number 4. They also had family in The Lea, just down the road. There may be some photo's in the mother-in Laws attic, I'll have a look next time we're there. The cottages were all owed by the Baptist Chapel so they might have a record of who lived there.

Thanks for getting in contact. I'm researching a tree for a friend from Cinderford whose mum was a Mary Louisa Smith, born in Weston U Penyard in 1910 and who also lived in the Ryeford cottages with her family, father James Wellyn Smith and step mother Elsie, before she married in 1931.
I'm wondering if Nigel's family could be the same Smiths.
I do have a photo of a wedding, and the photo was taken behind the row of cottages by the side of the chapel.
I would like to send you a copy via the internet to see if your husband knows any names or faces.
I'm still interested in possible photos of the row of cottages if you could have a look please when at your mum in laws.
Regards
Brian

Barbara. You obviously are not sure about my last message.
The photo I refer to is the wedding of Percy John Lamb and Olive Clara Smith. (transcript below). I'm sure from my own visits to Ryeford that this photo shows the side of the Chapel, behind the cottages. I have also visited the graveyard at the other side and rear of the chapel where some of the Smiths are buried.
