I realise this is an old thread, but as Lyndon and Marlene are still active on the forum they may hopefully find this of interest. If you search "Yorkley" on the excellent Old Glos Pubs website, then leaf thro the resulting 14 pub pages, towards the last is a page with a potted history of the Crown. Don't search "Crown" as there's 143 pages..
As well as a detailed description of the pub c1923, it lists various landlords/owners/breweries etc thro the years 1891 - 1923. Amongst the Browns and Morgans is indeed William Robins, listed as being landlord(but not owner) in 1903.

I'm sorry I cannot give a direct link, as the website's author is understandably protective of their work researching and also producing related books.

Heather Hurley's excellent book "Pubs of the Royal FoD" carries similar info, but adds that when the building was bought by the Cheltenham Original Brewery in 1937, they described it as "the inn known as the Crown Inn (the license has now been discontinued)". It seems it wasn't reopened again as a pub, but is still called The Old Crown Inn as posted above.

Hope this helps, J
