John BALDWIN, baptised (Ruardean)1796 base child-REVISTED (General)
Hello from MaryLou in California. I am following up on a Forum General thread posted 2008-11-5 by geniejan (who seems to no longer be active on this site). This John Baldwin is my 3X great-grandfather. The original thread has some very helpful responses by slowhands and jimashton regarding John who was the illegitimate child of a Mary Baldwin. John married Eleanor Morse in 1822 and I have located parish baptism records for three of their children at Parkend while they lived in Whitecroft (1822-1837). The names they gave their children show up in other Baldwin family parish records in FOD. (Ann, Elizabeth, Moses, Samuel,MaryAmelia, Priscilla, Selina) I don't think we will ever discover "who is the daddy" as put by slowhands,however, I suspect there is a connection to other Baldwin families in FOD. Here's my long-shot idea;I have had DNA tests done with AncestryDNA and 23-and-Me here in the US. So far I have not be able to jump the pond to obvious Baldwin connections in the UK. Perhaps there are members on this site with local Baldwin ancestors who have had DNA tests done?? And if so, is there some way we could share information? I figure it couldn't hurt to ask!
Warm regards, MaryLou (marleyfoolou is family nickname)
BALDWIN of Ruardean, DNA tests / data sought, please.
Hi MaryLou and a warm welcome to the forum.
I hope someone can advise you on how to access DNA results to help solve this puzzle.
Meanwhile here's a link to the old thread you've mentioned, to perhaps jog fresh replies;

Good luck, J.
PS In the unlikely event you've not already seen them, here's some old threads discussing the general subject of DNA testing for FH purposes.

Thank you for your support, Jefff. While focusing on the Baldwin surname, I neglected to search the forum on DNA in general. Great postings and lots to digest!
